Investment to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore is expected to be pumped into developing DREAM City on 685 hectare land
Surat: Battered by the pandemic last year, the Diamond City is hoping for a brighter future riding on three projects that are already refuelling the city’s growth. The Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, Tapi Riverfront Development (TRD) and Multi Modal Transport Hub will prove to be game changers, civic body officials claim.
The city has already started retelling its fortune story with the development of Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) in DREAM City. “Many diamond industry workers in Mumbai are looking for residential properties in Surat to shift in the future. It is a major project that will give a big boost to the city’s economy,” municipal commissioner, Banchhanidhi Pani told TOI.

VADODARA: A 31-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Bajwa area on Monday afternoon. Shishir Darji, who stayed in Amrapali Society, took the extreme step when he was alone at his home. The deceased left a two-page suicide note wherein he blamed his wife Monika and in-laws for his suicide. Darji wrote that it is not a suicide but murder.
Investigating officials said that they are investigating the role of Darji’s wife and other persons. According to the police, Darji went into his room on the first floor of the house and removed the fan and then hung himself with a sari.
Dilip Patel and his wife Usha were settled in the US for 20 years
SURAT: A husband-wife duo from Bharthana locality adjoining Surat city were shot at in their motel in Elkton town of Maryland, the US, leaving the 59-year-old woman dead.
The deceased was identified as Usha Patel while her husband Dilip, 59, suffered bullet wounds in the lower torso. His condition is said to be critical but stable in a private hospital. Usha was shot in the chest by the assailant and she died on the spot on Friday night Relatives of the couple in Bharthana informed that Dilip has not been told about Usha’s death considering his medical condition.

PM Imran Khan outlines six-point plan to achieve objectives of ECO

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has presented his six-point plan for securing the common objectives of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Countries, saying that we need to recover robustly from the economic and health crises induced by the COVID-19.
In his opening remarks at the 14th ECO Summit held virtually on Thursday with the theme “Regional Economic Cooperation in the Aftermath of COVID-19”, the prime minister said that we must adopt a plan to build resilient health care systems to respond to such crises in the future.
